The Decoder

Every trait on every imprint, in plain English. The source of truth for what the card means.

The Element heartstide.5555.4.element

Before any trait, there is the window. The element name tells Bitcoin which 2,016 blocks become heartstide. It is a TAP-DMT identifier — four parts, each load-bearing.

PartValueWhat it means
nameheartstideThe collection's name. Stays constant across all future stides.
pattern5555The digit pattern that selects the epoch. The chain has to contain these four digits in the chosen field for an epoch to qualify.
field4Which numeric field of the epoch header to scan. Field 4 = bits (decimal substring) — the difficulty value converted to decimal, scanned for the pattern as a substring.
kindelementTAP-DMT element type. Element = deterministic on-chain window.

The math, walked out

Bitcoin difficulty epochs are exactly 2,016 blocks long. Each epoch has a bits value (compact difficulty target). Convert it to decimal, scan for 5555 as a substring — if it appears, that epoch's 2,016 blocks become the stide.

Epoch 162 · the heartstide window

block range326,592 — 328,607  (2,016 blocks)
bits (hex)0x181e8dc0
bits (decimal)404655552  ← the match
mined2014-10-23 · Chapter II (merchant era)

The element name is the contract. Anyone scanning Bitcoin with the same four parts gets the same 2,016 blocks. There's no list to maintain. The chain holds the list.

Future stides

Other stides change one or more parts. heartstide.42069.4.element would pick whichever epoch's bits-decimal contains 42069. heartstide.5555.3.element would scan a different field. Each combination locks a different window. The collection stays one chronicle; the stides accumulate.

Why this matters. Most NFT collections pick a block range by hand. Heartstide doesn't — the element name is a recipe Bitcoin executes. The chain decides which epoch belongs to this stide. That makes the window unforgeable, the math auditable, and the next stide writable in a single line.

The Plate PLATE

The plate is the physical object the Hi is imprinted into. The body. 72 masters in 4 families.

FamilyCountWhat it isEnergy
State Cube51Glass cube with the state's native stone"the land you came through"
Ceremonial Cube6Glass cube with a Bitcoin-coded mineral"the principle that holds you"
Sculpt9Hand-carved Hi in a state's signature stone"someone took a chisel to this"
Slab6Polished flat plaque of a ceremonial mineral"this stays here"

The 6 Ceremonial Minerals

Green Agate — "Hi Genesis"The first block, the first hello
Pyrite — "Perfect Block"A fully-formed block, no waste
Hematite — "Weight of the Chain"Cumulative weight every node carries
Lapis Lazuli — "Ancient Store"Older than money; UTXO of civilizations
Tiger's Eye — "Not Your Keys"The sovereignty principle
Diamond — "Hard Money"What survives every halving
Why this trait exists. Every imprint needs a body. The plate is that body. 72 different plates × 28 mints each = no two state-cubes share the same mineral. It's the single biggest source of visual diversity in the collection.
2

The Binding TOME

Every imprint is bound into 1 of 7 tomes. The tome sets the visual accent and the emotional register. Tier is fixed by inscription order via a deterministic ladder.

RankTomeTagCountShare
6HEARTSTONE"the apex"10.05%
5EMBER"an inspyrer"50.25%
4VAULT"a guardian"301.5%
3SPECIMEN"a witness"1085.4%
2SCROLL"a rememberer"28814.3%
1HI-RULE"a keeper"57628.6%
0SLATE"a teacher"1,00850.0%

HEARTSTONE is the 1-of-1 apex — selected as the imprint with the most "8" digits in its inscription id among the six top-tier candidates. In heartstide, that's inscription #888. Read the full selection rule →

Why this trait exists. A 2,016-imprint set all rendered the same would feel like a spreadsheet. The tome is a room. It sorts the collection into seven emotional registers so a wall of imprints reads as a library, not a roster.

Stack them: GENESIS HEARTKNOT CROWNED WALKER = cosmic alignment. SPIRAL and CHORD wake for future stides.

Why this trait exists. A block number is forgettable. A title you can say out loud. The 24 archetypes split into four squads so any holder can find the other ~84 people in their tribe. The rare prefixes make the math of your block matter — Bitcoin chose them, not you.

The Sigil HI COLOR

The color of the "Hi" handprint on the plate. The soul-marker.

Violet#8b3dffuncommon150
Lime Green#6bd43auncommon150
Metallic Gold#d4a338legendary60
Metallic Silver#c0c5cclegendary40
Why this trait exists. 90% peach is deliberate. It tells the market: "if you got peach, you got the Hi." The signature IS the value. The 10% non-peach exists to let Gold (0.6%) and Silver (0.4%) carry real weight — and they're the only colors that modify your title.

The Gifts GIFTS line

Earned because the block number itself carries mathematical or numerological significance. Discovered, not assigned. Counts below are the exact heartstide census across all 2,016 blocks.

Multiple gifts stack — a single block can be both palindrome AND perfect-square. HEARTKNOT is the apex gift of this stide.

Why this trait exists. Gifts reward the math your block happens to carry. A palindrome was a palindrome before Bitcoin existed. Most cards have none — that's the point. When you see one stacked with another, it feels like a small lottery the universe ran on your behalf.

Why this trait exists. Without Vitals, an imprint is a still image. With them, it's a body — pulse, glow, strides, the state it calls home, the landmark it points to. HERITAGE is the doorway to the Road program. WAYPOINT is the precise pin: when Joe says "meet me at Devils Tower," the Wyoming holders know it's their day.

The Chapter II · merchant era

Bitcoin halves every 210,000 blocks. Heartstide is one complete epoch — 2,016 sequential blocks (326,592–328,607), mined 2014-10-23 — set entirely in Chapter II (the merchant era, 2012–2016), when first commerce came on-chain. Future stides will lock to other chapters.

IIIBull run / institutional (2016–2020)future stide
IVOrdinals storm (2020–2024)future stide
Why this trait exists. Bitcoin has eras. Heartstide carries a stone from the merchant era — the years first commerce came on-chain. Every imprint shares that ground. The element name (heartstide.5555.4.element) locks the window to this epoch; future stides will lock to others.

The Echo the only dynamic field

Everything else locks at inscription. Echo is the heartbeat — it changes when the holder binds the NFT and shows up daily.

StateTriggerVisual
COLD Never bound / no recent HiCard sits quiet
WARM A recent Hi exchangedHalo softens on
HOT Active multi-day streakHalo pulses, ring rotates
BURNING 5FAN active (5 friends on streak with you)Full glow, faster ring, gold shift

5FAN = Five Friends, All on streak with you. When your circle is showing up, your Echo unlocks BURNING.

Why this trait exists. Every other trait is frozen at mint. Echo is the one trait that watches you. Floor-flippers can't farm it — you can't buy your way to BURNING. The Echo is how the card knows the difference between an owner and a practitioner.
9

The Closing Thought WHISPER

One of 101 hand-written lines in Joe's voice (100 open questions + 1 sentinel mantra). Picked as WHISPERS[(blockHeight * 7) % 101]. Designed to walk with the holder.

Why this trait exists. Every other trait answers a question. The Whisper asks one. ~100 holders share each whisper — a small kinship around a single question. Closing line of the card, opening line of a conversation.
